ThoughtMonsters have to live with the possibility that no matter how much thinking they do, it remains impossible to even begin to understand the world. A global society of seven billion humans, each with their own unique set of experiences and genetic code, making trillions of decisions every minute, swirling like a colossal planetary soup. Not even the most powerful supercomputers, AI driven and calculating billions of possibilities per nano second seem able to predict the weather more than five days in advance let alone the next step in human development. And yet we hold on to the belief that we can sift through the noise and make judgements on people’s motives, likely chance of success or failure, and come to firm conclusions regarding the state of our world. I guess my conclusion from this is that our assessments are not reliant on our access to hard facts, as we can never possibly compute them all, more on our ability to grasp strategic understanding that sits somewhere deep in our psyche. How about we call this place our Soul?
