It dawned on me recently that great historical figures were also real people at one time or another. They got hungry and thirsty and wondered what was for tea and had preferences for things just like we do. Great historical figures yawned and sneezed and sometimes felt a little giddy if they stood up too fast. They had a laugh but could feel sad as well and they thought about olden times and what the future might look like. They chose what to wear in the morning and got undressed at night.
Great historical figures sometimes caught a cold or would feel a little out of sorts. They got something in their eye and barked their shins. Sounds could be too loud for them and they could feel too hot or too cold.
Great historical figures could smell things just like us, they could jump in the air and skip around in a circle if they wanted to, they could shout and mime the word “bread” if the mood took them.
All great historical figures closed their eyes and went to sleep and had dreams.
